Discernment: Facets of Discernment

Devotedly seeking to know the Will of God as revealed to us in the circumstances of our lives, in the Scriptures, in feedback from others, within the silence of our hearts, through the Church and the Commandments of God.
Interiorly silent before the Lord and in interpersonal relationship, listening for God’s voice, His direction, His will to be revealed.
Surrendering our plans and our ways to the plans and the ways of the Lord recognized as we sit quietly at the feet of the Lord, making our own decisions after doing our research into the issue we are considering.
Entering into the depths of our hearts, being silent before God in prayer, as we cling to our desire to follow God’s ways, not giving into the pressure of others to abandon what we know God is asking of us.
Remembering to seek God’s counsel and wisdom in all of our decisions.
Never wavering  in our wanting to bring our wills into harmony with the will of God, revealed to us in solitude, in seeking and being open to others' feedback, in reflecting on the Scriptures, in listening to the Spirit whispering to us in the depth of our hearts.
Meeting Jesus in the events of our lives, speaking to us through our feelings, in our thoughts and through our interaction with “angels” that God sends to help us in our confusion, in our doubts, in our weakened faith.
Engaging the Spirit to help us know in which state in life we will become the best version of ourselves: marriage, single life, priesthood or religious life.
Not basing our decision on the pressures of social media to seek only pleasure, profit, prestige and power but
To follow the way modeled for us by Jesus: obedience to the Father, giving one’s all for the good of others, being there for others in their need for healing, comfort, forgiveness, reconciliation and a turning over our lives to build up the Kingdom of love.
